Romea Muryń is a researcher, filmmaker, urban planner and architect. After receiving her master’s degree from the West Pomeranian University of Technology and her bachelor’s degree from Copenhagen School of Design and Technology, she worked for 8 years as an architect in leading design practices — JDS, COBE, REX, BIG and OMA. Romea completed the postgraduate programme ‘Hybrid Urbanism’ at Strelka Institute for Media, Architecture and Design and worked as a leading architect and urban strategist at KB Strelka. Romea was an adjunct Professor at INDA International Program in Design and Architecture, Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand. In addition to design and academic practice, Romea was a Program Director of ‘Creating Homes for Tomorrow’ and Editor-in-Chief at the CANactions. She is a co-founder of the studio ZIEMIA and Locument. Locument’s movies have been screened internationally at exhibitions and film festivals such as – the 15th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, Italy; MAXXI The National Museum of XXI Century Arts in Rome; Architecture Film Festival Rotterdam; the 25th Biennial of Design Ljubljana, Slovenia; Commiserate Chicago Media Art Festival, US. They have collaborated with institutions such as MIT Architecture Department, Bartlett School of Architecture and Nikola-Lenivets Classroom. Currently, as a part of Locument, she runs a studio with Francisco Lobo at the Amsterdam University of Arts, Academy of Architecture and FAVUT Faculty of Architecture in Brno.
